Preparing to Post Results

Posting the results of an event is a multi-step process. The first step is to upload the results and splits files from Ór, the program that records all participants' performances at an event. When the event is over, Ór can save the results and the splits in two separate files. These are HTML files, although the format of the information is in tables that are somewhat crude and there is no commentary. When you save the files with Ór, you may name them any way you want, as long as the name contains no spaces and the type is either .htm or .html. This page is used to upload to the server the results file and, if available, the splits file for an event. After uploading, this page adjusts the format of the tables to make them clearer. This adjustment is tailored specifically to Ór files. The files are uploaded to a temporary area and adjusted there; they are held in the temporary area until the final step.

The second step is to add commentary to the results file. After uploading the results file, an Add Commentary link will appear at the bottom of this page. When you click on the Add Commentary link, you will go to a form in which you can enter standard commentary components. You will also be given a chance to review the complete results page as it will be displayed before making it public. If you see a problem with the commentary during the review, you can edit it and review again. When you are satisfied, the third and final step is to make the results public.

Although the second step allows you to edit the commentary, there is no provision for you to edit the results tables from Ór. If a name is spelled wrong or a club affiliation is missing or you want to make a more extensive change to text in the results tables from Ór, you must do so with an HTML editor, prior to doing the first step. Do not edit the form of the results tables from Ór; any change you make to the form may mess up the format changes this page makes. For example, one of the table columns is "Class", DO NOT delete this column even though we do not usually use "Class" to identify participants. Or for Score results, DO NOT delete the "Bonus" column.
