LIVELOX
Livelox is an
app that can be used for two main purposes: 1) As a safety
feature - When in an area with good cell service, a competitor
running the Livelox app on his/her phone can be tracked by the event
organizers. Consequently, it is possible for the organizers to
know where that person is on the course at any time. 2) As
an analysis tool - After an event ends, Livelox automatically uploads
the competitor's route to a database that can be accessed by the
competitor to analyze his/her route relative to what other competitors
have done. For this use, the Livelox app need not be installed
the competitor's phone; other phone apps that record the track can be
used or for smart watches no app should be needed, although
with other apps the upload may not be automatic.
To get the Livelox app, you can go to the Google Play Store for the
Android version or the Apple Store for the iOS version. The
Livelox app is free. Here are links to each of these versions

To use Livelox for either of the purposes above, you first need to
create a Livelox account. Below is a link to a page that shows a
video of how to create a Livelox account.

If you have the Livelox app on your phone and want to record your track at an event, do the following:
- Start the Livelox app
- Log into the event with the provided 6-character code, or by selecting from
the list of available events. [optional, requires internet access]
- Right before you begin competing, click on the Start recording button at the bottom
- When you are finished with the course, go back into Livelox and click on the Stop recording button.
- You can find additional details for using the app
at Details
Note:
The Livelox app may consume the phone’s battery faster than other
recording apps because it is continually sending live data over the
cellular connection.
If you have a
different app or device for recording your track, do the following:
- Optionally
connect your Livelox account to Garmin, Strava, Polar or Suunto for
automatic upload to Livelox; for details on how to connect go to Connect
- Record your route as you normally would
- Upload the route (gpx or tcx) to Livelox if it is not uploaded automatically;
for details of manual uploads, go to Upload
from a file
To use Livelox for route analysis and comparison, you may be able to use the QR code on the map (if there is one). Alternatively,
