To participate in using Livelox, you must have a Livelox
account. You should definitely do this while you still have
reliable Internet access (don't wait until you get to the event).
There is a video to show you how at https://www.livelox.com/Documentation/Athletes/UserAccounts
Having the Livelox app on your phone is not a requirement for
using Livelox; however, it can make some things easier. You can
use one of the links at http://www.wpoc.org/livelox.htm
to get the app. After downloading the app, sign into your account.
To use the Livelox app for an event, you should tell the app that
you are participating in that event. This can be done by selecting
from among the many coincident events worldwide, or by entering a
6-character code provided by the event. This can be done up to two
days before the event and should also
be done when you have reliable Internet access. If you aren't able
to do this beforehand, you will still be able to connect your
track to the event later. The 6-character codes that are appropriate to your event should have already been sent to you.
If you want to use a different method of recording your route
(e.g., a GPS watch or another app such as Strava), you don't need
to do anything special in advance. You will either upload your
route to Livelox after the event, or take advantage of some
systems' capability to automatically upload to Livelox.
Information here: https://www.livelox.com/Documentation/Athletes/Routes
At the event, just start and stop the recording of your track.
After the event, you can use the QR code printed on the map to get
to the event in Livelox to analyze routes.
