Deer Lakes Park
Orienteering Meet
7 April 2024

It was a very nice day for orienteering, temperature about 60 degrees and mostly sunny. We had a total of 53 participants: 22 in the first beginner session and 2 in the second; 11 in the intermediate session and a total of 18 on the advanced exercises. Most people on the advanced exercises did only one exercise, although two people did all three.

Joe Logan designed the beginner course and the three advanced exercises; h e also taught the beginner sessions. Jim Wolfe designed the intermediate course and taught the intermediate session.

There are no timing results as there were no official starts and no checking of control cards.

Thanks to Jim Wolfe for vetting. Thanks to Sherry Shank, Ryan Repp and Laurie Opila for handling registration/check-in. Thanks to Laurie Opila for helping with start/finish. Thanks to Joe Logan and Jim Wolfe for conducting instruction. And thanks to Lee Bash, Ryan Repp, Zach Gass and Joe Logan for doing control pickup.

The next WPOC event will be at the Babcock Division of Gallitzin State Forest on 27 April.   This is a speicalized event that is not intended for beginners.
