Orienteering Meet

It was an extremely hot day for orienteering, temperature and humidity
both about 90. The heat may have reduced our attendance somewhat;
however, Blue Spruce events normally have relatively low turnout.
We had 24 starts from 42 participants. Some of them
returned clearly wilted from the heat.
Sherry Shank designed the day's courses. The combination of
climb, lack of mowing on some paths and fields and the heat made for
some fairly long finishing times and for several DNFs. However,
these factors were generally outside of Sherry's control. Aside
from the heat effects, everyone seemed to have a good time, although a
few would have like to finish their courses.
Thanks to Barbara Johnstone, Eric Steinbring, Ryan Knecht and Laurie
Opila for handling registration. Thanks to Naomi Jarvis and Ryan
Knecht for helping with start/finish. Thanks to Sherry Shank and
Joe Logan for offering instruction. And a big thanks to Yaki

pickup, a couple of them after running a course.
