It was another very nice day for
orienteering. Temperatures were in the low 60's. We had quite
a variety of first-timers, undoubtedly attracted by all the advertising
that Deb Beisel did. We had a pretty good turnout considering that
Hurricane Ivan went through two days before. This was our first participation
in National Orienteering Day so we were able to give a few prizes to the
winners on each course (Brunton compasses and MapTech software).
We also added one new club member, Ken Fletcher, at this meet. This
was Bryon Roland's first venture at meet directing; he did a very good
job - Everyone seemed pleased with the event. Thanks to Loretta Opila
for running registration, to Jennifer Livingston and Deb Beisel for running
the start, to Anne Hoover for helping to put out controls, and to All Sheaffer
and Jerry Agin for helping with control pickup.
