MUNNELL RUN ORIENTEERING COURSES

CREATED BY REBEKAH GABER FOR HER GIRL SCOUT

SILVER PROJECT

Turn at the Munnell Run sign off of Route 58 (across from the Mercer County Career Center).

Follow the driveway to the T.  Turn right.

Stop at the white mail box across from the gazebo and pick up an orienteering course map if you did not print one from the web site.  (There are also Interpretative Trail Maps in the mailbox so be sure you take the correct map.)

Continue on down the driveway to the pig barn (red building with a pig sign hanging on the front of the building).

Park in the parking lot between the silos and the pig barn.  Please do not block the driveway.  This is a working farm and there may be need for farm vehicles to get thru.

Both courses, Beginner and Novice, start at the Pig Barn.  The Beginner Course includes Controls A thru F and is great for younger kids.  Older kids and adults can use the Beginner Course for practice and then continue to the Novice Course which includes Controls 1 thru 9.   This course is more challenging but not too difficult.

When completing the course, keep in mind you are a guest of Munnell Run Farm and there are a few rules to follow:

            1.         Please practice “Leave No Trace”.  If you carry something in with you,  carry it out.

            2.         This is a working farm.  Please stay out of the crop fields and pastures and do not disturb the cows.

            3.         Do not cut across the fields.  Please walk along the edges of the fields in the  mowed paths.

            4.         Do not touch the fences.  They are electric and are powered. YOU WILL GET SHOCKED IF YOU TOUCH THEM.

            5.         Do not try to pet or catch the cats.

Enjoy your time outdoors at the farm and let others know about this fun and educational resource.
