The following hotels/motels are listed
generally in the order of their proximity to Delmont. There are dozens
of hotels in the greater Pittsburgh area. The criteria used for listing
here were that the price needed to be under $100 per night and the location
had to be within 10 miles of Delmont (Event Center) or within 5 miles of
one of the parks being used. The Map # is used to mark the approximate
location of the lodging; see the Blue numbers
on the Keystone
Capers Area Map . Starting
Prices should be used only for comparison purposes; they were derived from
information available on the Internet during September 2010 for a stay
in June 2011. Two additional motel entries for corporate sponsor
Motel 6 are given - follow the links to get the code for cheaper rates.

have a lot of camp sites but in the summer, they tend to fill up. Also,
in case you are unaware, alcohol is not permitted in Pennsylvania state

The Detail Map of Delmont shows the location of various services. The Blue Numbers show the three hotels listed in the lodging section. A few streets are shown and the locations of various restaurants, stores and other businesses that may be important to you are marked with Purple Letters according to the legend. As points of reference, there are stop lights at the intersections of either Route 22 or 66 and each of the shown streets. There are also stop lights on Route 66 where it passes under Route 22. There are no other stop lights on either Route 22 or 66 within the area outlined as Delmont.
In addition to the restaurants in Delmont, you can find many additional ones by going five or six miles to the west on route 22 to the town of Murrysville. All of the following are along route 22 in that six-mile stretch: Atrias, Cozy Inn, Dick's Diner, Eat 'n Park, Five Guys, Hoss's Steak & Sea, Hot Rod Lounge, KFC, Panera Bread, Pasqualino's Italian Eatery, Rick's Sports Bar & Grill, Table Grill and several Chinese/Asian restaurants.
There will be a spaghetti dinner on Saturday evening at the Delmont Fire Hall. The dinner is at 6:30 pm and the cost is $9 for an adult and $4.50 for children under 12 (children under 5 eat free). The dinner will consist of spaghetti, sauce with or without meat, salad, bread, dessert and drinks (coffee, ice tea, lemonade, water). It will be an all-you-can-eat affair so bring your appetite.
Driving directions: From the junction of Routes 22 and 66, take 66 north to the first traffic light. Make a sharp left onto Manor Drive. Then, take the first left onto Abbe Pl and after a short distance another left into the fire hall driveway. Drive around the building to the parking. See location M on the detail map of Delmont The fire hall is less than a mile from the hotels in Delmont. The map also shows an alternate route to the fire hall from the Holiday Inn Express.
See the Laurel Highlands Visitors Guide that is provided in the registration packet. This Guide is published by the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau; it covers all of Westmoreland county and a couple of other counties. You can also check out the Visitors Bureau with this link.
Baby sitting is offered during the competition
on Saturday and Sunday for those who reserved and prepaid for the service.
The service will be near the playground area on both days. A playground
is about 250 meters from
Competition Center on each day.
In addition, if you want to allow your children to get wet while under
baby sitter supervision, there is a spray park at Deer Lakes Park (Saturday)
and a beach at Keystone State Park (Sunday). Please pick up your
child within a reasonable time after completing your course.
Deer Lakes Park
Food will be available on Saturday near
the Competition Center on a pay-as-you-go basis. This is being provided
by a Boy Scout troop. The starting time and menu will be provided
here as soon as it is available.
Keystone State Park
Food will be available on Sunday on a
pay-a-you-go basis starting around 11:30 at the beach concession stand.
The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza (with or without pepperoni),
nachos, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken nuggets, french fries, macaroni
salad, ice cream, and fountain drinks.
After Sunday's competition, you may use the showers in the beach house (about 250 m from Competition Center). You may drive around to the beach parking area or just walk from Competition Center. Of course, if you wish, you may also take advantage of the beach; do not enter the lake anywhere other than the beach area.
Berman's Orienteering Supply is planning to be present both days. Go Orienteering is planning to be at the event on Saturday only.
First Aid
Each day at the Competition Center there
will be a qualified EMT to provide any first aid that is needed and to
help evaluate any more serious situations that arise.
Cell Phone Service
If you have a cell phone, you may be able
to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Cell phone service is spotty
in both parks and is especially bad in the low lying areas. If you
would rather try to contact event officials, you can try to call 814 619-5401
This number will be printed somewhere on all maps.
Hospitals
Driving directions are given to the two
hospitals nearest to the competition areas which have emergency rooms.
These should be the destination of any ambulance that may need to make
an appearance at the event.
