were mapped for the
2025 Babcock Bog & Boulder Challenge

were held; three of these were open to the public.
- Minor updates were made to
the maps of the areas used for events during the year.

5. Board Actions over the
past year
- The board approved
subsidizing the purchase of club jerseys for any club member that wanted one. Ryan Knecht and Naomi Jarvis designed the
jerseys and 35 were purchased from Bryzos Sport.
- The board approved
purchasing swag items for participants in the 2024 Raccoongaine (a buff
or neck gaiter) and the 2024 Babcock
Bog & Boulder Challenge (string bag). The board also approved
purchase of a t-shirt as the swag item for the 2025 Raccoongaine (its
15th year).
- The board approved the purchase of 40 compasses. We needed to replace a number
of compasses that had acquired bubbles and Jen Livingston needed additional compasses to conduct workshops.
6. Financial and Membership Reports (attached)
- In addition to the usual expenses related to events ( permits,
map printing, director expenses, etc.) and the items mentioned above, we did spend money on control box batteries,
printer ink, our domain renewal, and hosting
services.
- For Discussion: What should we spend money on?
Donations to parks? Donation to Orienteering USA? T-shirts? Hats?
- OUSA has changed how fees are assessed for
rechartering member clubs for 2024, dropping the component related to club
membership and increasing the component related to starts. The net effect of this has been negligible.
For example, the recharter fee for 2024 was $664 while the recharter fee for 2023 was $676 under the
the old system of assessment.
7. Goals for 2025
- Hold as many local events as we can, preferably 7 or 8, in addition to the mini-rogaines
and the training day.
- Hold
workshops and promotional events
for orienteering;
- Increase
club membership and volunteerism at events
8.
Call for event
directors and vetters (dates and locations to be discussed individually)
- The dates for Raccoongaine and the Babcock Bog & Boulder
Challenge are already set, March 29 and April 26, respectively.
Our 10-year agreement with Keystone State Park will end in 2025. We will need to establish a new agreement next year to hold
future events there.
- It would be helpful if we could get one or two more people willing to become event directors.
- Ski-O Problem.
