6 November 2022
1.

2021 meeting. (action required)
2.
Election of club officers (action required)
The current officers are Jim Wolfe, President; Joe Logan, Vice President; and Jen Livingston, Secretary
3. Report
on Past Year's Achievements
- 6 regular
orienteering events, one training day and two mini-rogaine events were held..
- A permanent course was installed at Brady's Run. A map of Montour Woods was created for a
group that wanted a permanent course there; the group later changed its mind.
- 5 orienteering workshops or demonstrations
were held.
- Club maps:
Alexis Rzewski finished field checking and drawing the South Park map (and our first event there was held in September). Minor
updates were made to the maps of the areas used for events during the year. Minor updates were also made to the Babcock map in anticipation
of next year's mini-rogaine there.
4. Thanks
to Event Directors (Sherry Shank, Jen Livingston, Alexis Rzewski, Joe Logan, Ryan Knecht and Jim Wolfe),
Vetters (Dave Battista, Andy Strat, and Jim
Wolfe), Workshop
Presenters (Jen Livingston and
Jim Wolfe),
Volunteer
Coordinator (Ryan Knecht), Membership Coordinator (Sherry
Shank),
Event Coordinator (Giuseppina Mecchia), Social Media/Photographer
(Alexis Rzewski), Facebook Connection (Naomi Jarvis), Equipment Repairman (Ryan Knecht), and all the Event Volunteers.
5. Board Actions over the
past year
- There were no voted-on actions by the board in 2022. There were discussions of acquiring
the lastest version OCAD; however, there was no follow-through on that. There was general consensus that a donation should be made to the
Purple Pen creator because we have been using that software for some time; a donation was made.
-
The club web site continues to evolve, although not as dramatically as last year.
6. Financial and Membership Reports (attached)
- Proposal: Charge anyone who does not preregister for an event $1 in addition to whatever that person/group would have paid if
s/he or they had preregistered.
- For Discussion: What should we spend money on?
Control flags to replace controls 31-80 which are quite faded (and in some cases damaged)?
Donations to parks? Donation to Orienteering USA? T-shirts? Uniforms?
- For Possible Discussion: At the Annual General Meeting of OUSA, they were considering a change in how fees are assessed for
rechartering member clubs. This may lead to WPOC needing to change the way it charges fees for maps and club memberships.
7. Goals for 2023
- Hold as many local events as we can, preferably 7 or 8, in addition to the mini-rogaines
and the training day.
- Hold
workshops and promotional events
for orienteering;
- Increase
club membership and volunteerism at meets
8.
Call for event
directors and vetters (dates and locations to be discussed individually)
- The dates for Raccoongaine and the Babcock Bog & Boulder Challenge are already set, April 1 and April 29 respectively.
- For Discussion: Should we try to have a ski-o event?
