Here is a summary of what has happened with WPOC for 2006.

We had a very successful year.  We put on 8 meets (most ever for a year) at which there were 238 starts.  (I didn't count the actual participants; but many of the starts involved two or more people.)  We also put on our first night orienteering meet and twice set new records for number of starts at a meet.  We held our first meets on a new area (Pine Ridge Park) and have an extensively revised map of Boyce Park.

There were 32 dues-paying club members in 2006.  This is basically the same number as in 2005; although it is not the same 32 people.  Five WPOC club members are members of USOF, the national organization.  This is the minimum number at which we can be a regular chartered club of USOF.  So, if any of you have $30-$35 dollars burning a hole in your pocket and want to find out more about the sport beyond WPOC, you might consider joining.  (Go to www.us.orienteering.org ).

I have attached a very small file showing the club finances for the year. As you can see, we came out slightly ahead.  The big expense for the year was for controls, punches and some permanent markers (this expense was repaid by the Girl Scouts).  But, we now have two sets of control markers that can be used to put on meets.

I hope to be creating the spring schedule very soon and will be sending that out to you.  Meanwhile, I wish you a Happy 2007.
