4.     Report on the Achievements of 2011

Held 10 orienteering meets, including our first national event, Keystone Capers.

Club members held workshops in a wide variety of locations around Western PA.

Club members promoted WPOC and orienteering through a variety of ways:  Yahoo, Facebook, presentations to scoutmasters at Carlow College and Heritage Reservation, through an article about Keystone Capers in the Pittsburgh Gazette, and in the club newsletter.

Additions to the club's maps:  revised versions of Deer Lakes and Keystone SP, 2/3 of Mingo Creek, extension to map of north shore of Yellow Creek SP, others started, base maps of Frick Park, part of Oil Creek SP, and the rest of Raccoon Creek SP

5. Financial Report  A financial report was made for WPOC through November 13, 2011.  It shows the club to be ahead financially, due in part to Keystone Capers and Raccoongaine.  Explanations were made to the membership regarding the spending of money due to our non-profit status.  A complete report for 2011 will be sent to the membership in January after the fiscal year is completed. 6. Discussions and Goals for 2012  Permanent Orienteering Courses were discussed for a variety of locations including Keystone SP, Boyce, Deer Lakes SP, Prince Gallitzin SP and others.  Explanations on the costs and work involved in creating and maintaining a permanent course were explained. Barbara Johnstone motioned for a permanent course to be placed at Keystone SP, funded by WPOC.  Giuseppina Mecchia seconded.  All were in favor.
Chris Scanga motioned that the WPOC board be permitted to make decisions on other permanent orienteering courses as they arise.  Sherry Shank seconded.  All were in favor.
Electronic punching and equipment was discussed.  There were many different options and factors to consider when deciding which sets would be best used for WPOC. Jennifer Livingston motioned to have the WPOC board spend up to $5,000 in 2012 on items related to electronic punching.  Barbara Johnstone seconded.  All were in favor.  Meet kits were discussed.  It would be very convenient to have a complete 2nd kit so that meet directors would have better access to the supplies in a timely manner and so that the sole responsibility of getting the stuff to a meet did not rest entirely with 1 person.  Each club member who keeps the Meet Kit for any time will need enough space to store a few bins. Curt Mertz made a motion to start purchasing the needed supplies to have a 2nd Meet Kit for WPOC.  Chris Scanga seconded.  All in favor.  Discussion was had regarding OUSA's request for all orienteering clubs to donate the proceeds from an orienteering meet in 2012. Jennifer Livingston motioned to donate proceeds from an April or May local orienteering meet contingent upon someone from a national team agreeing to hold a training event in Western PA.  Joe Logan seconded.  All in favor.
     7.   Meeting adjourned at 3:40 pm.
